Deloitte has established a practice to harness the power of generative AI for productivity gains and faster business innovation.

The firm’s AI talent and industry experience would aim to maximise the impact of the disruptive technology, it said, and take advantage of leaps in computing power.

“We are excited to launch our generative AI practice to help clients cut through the hype, to design, build, and operate real world solutions built on leading AI foundation models, and to responsibly benefit from this rapidly advancing technology,” Deloitte Australia CEO Adam Powick said.

“We have an enormous opportunity to redefine value in a labour-constrained workforce to enable people and organisations to be more productive.”

“As someone who grew up as a technologist and worked on early AI models, I have rarely been as excited about the potential of a technology to positively change and simplify the way we work.

“Generative AI is, and should be, a topic of significant interest around executive and board tables across the country and represents a real opportunity for Australian organisations to be at the forefront of technology innovation.”

Deloitte said the rapid advance of generative AI had unlocked a host of new marketplace applications.

“Deloitte’s generative AI practice will advise clients as they navigate the transformative impacts of this disruptive technology and help them plan, build, implement and operationalise solutions built on the leading AI foundation models,” Deloitte said.

“At the core of this new practice is a generative AI market incubator with a dedicated team of engineers focused on the rapid development of generative AI pilot programs; demos and proofs of concept and most valuable practices; and a R&D team working alongside Deloitte alliance partners to train and tune foundation models.”

Deloitte Australia AI lead Kellie Nuttall was proud to be at the cutting edge of the technology.

“Generative AI is transforming the way we work, from driving business efficiency in the workforce to providing better customer service through personalised content and experiences,” she said.

“Our recent hackathon uncovered some incredible opportunities for the way we solve problems for our clients and for ourselves.”

“We’re also launching our Generative AI Lab Program – an immersive program that will help businesses conceptualise and demystify generative AI. This immersive, hands-on experience will enable visitors to prototype, test and vet their ideas in an environment supported by a team of Deloitte leaders and experienced professionals from the AI ecosystem.”

Deloitte said its teams had early adoption and cloud experience on their side, plus the advantage of local acquisition Intellify and a targeted hiring strategy.

The practice would work with the AI Institute to train thousands of practitioners in AI skills, including model development.
