The new Moore Stephens office in Geelong will offer a full suite of accounting and advisory services, with expertise in new-growth industry sectors including education, health, property, professional services, not-for-profit, scientific research, advanced manufacturing, information and communications technology, and tourism.

According to the firm, the new location will capitalise on the “strong economic outlook” for the region.
Steve Sakkas, chief executive of the Victorian division, says the new office reflects Geelong’s growing reputation as a regional economic centre, and is a crucial milestone for the practice’s growth strategy.
“In the wake of manufacturing sector decline, Geelong is transforming itself into a regional centre for the growth-favoured knowledge and skills-based industries,” he said.
“Our client base in Geelong and the surrounding Barwon region has shown strong, sustained growth for a number of years, so we are delighted to be able to provide the international capability of Moore Stephens locally.”
Mr Sakkas says that regional areas such as Geelong will become increasingly responsible for future growth in the state.
“We recognise that much of Victoria’s future growth will be driven out of the regional centres where economic transformation is happening, so we are committed to expanding our presence in the state,” he said.
“With our global network, combined with local knowledge and experience, Moore Stephens is here to support the businesses that are driving, and benefiting, from that transition,” he added.
The firm will announce the appointment of the three local directors to lead the new office when it opens for business in September.
