New tool launched for accountants without AFSL

Business

DBA Lawyers is set to release a product for accountants who have chosen not to become AFSL-licensed to assist them in “properly” handling SMSF matters under the new licensing regime.

The kit will include templates of various disclaimers for services such as SMSF establishment, pension set-up, contribution-related matters and limited recourse borrowing arrangements.

DBA Lawyers said the kit also includes “extensive practical commentary” as well as internal staff guidelines for office use and links to relevant resources.

“The new AFSL regime for accountants and advisers without a licence [started 1 July]! For many SMSF advisers this means big changes to their business procedures,” DBA Lawyers said.

“For those SMSF professionals who are not obtaining a limited AFS licence and who are not becoming an authorised representative of an AFSL holder, it will become vital to properly handle SMSF matters. Naturally this particularly impacts accountants,” the firm said.
