The Walker Wayland network has announced its expansion after acquiring a national specialist firm.

Walker Wayland Australasia has announced that Sydney-based specialist tax firm Tax Assure will join the group’s operations.

Tax Assure has been working with the ATO and clients for the past decade, with Walker Wayland executive director Stephen Roger labelling their understanding of tax debt and their relationships with the ATO as “second to none”.

“Their service is virtually unique in Australia,” Mr Roger added.

Tax Assure partners Terry Brown and Michael Moon have established legal and business advisory backgrounds, with Mr Moon being a qualified accountant.

According to Mr Moon, the presence of Walker Wayland will provide valuable links and a wealth of knowledge.

“We will be able to add considerable value to the group’s clients through our expertise in negotiating with the ATO,” he said.

Mr Moon continued by noting that although accountants are well qualified in their day-to-day dealing with the Tax Office, it is his belief that they often need specialist support, especially when their clients find themselves with a tax debt.

"Our clients have normally received a notice at some level from the ATO; anything from a preliminary phone call to a statutory demand. We also must be satisfied that the client has the ability to pay the debt."

“Our job is to work with the client and the ATO to deliver an optimal and sustainable outcome for all parties,” Mr Moon stated.

Tax Assure becomes the second firm to join the Walker Wayland Australasian network in 2015. Walker Wayland AMD, located in Mandurah, Western Australia, joined the network after a merger in January between Walker Wayland WA and regionally based accounting firm AMD.
