Xero has notified its shareholders that PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has resigned as external auditor of Xero and its subsidiaries.

The software provider issued an ASX statement informing shareholders of the changes, effective today, 2 October 2015.

As a result of the resignation, PwC will now be able to recommend Xero’s offerings to private businesses. PwC will continue to provide accounting and advisory services to Xero.
Ernst & Young will replace PwC as external auditor of Xero and its subsidiaries, following an appointment issued by Xero’s board of directors.
Rod Drury, Xero CEO, praised the relationship forged between the company and PwC during the early stages of its development.
“We appreciate the exceptional service and support from PwC. PwC has been our external auditor for over eight years, appointed soon after Xero’s listing on the NZX in 2007. During this time we’ve established Xero as a global company, providing our small business platform to over half a million subscribers worldwide,” Mr Drury said.
“We sincerely thank PwC for their expertise during our early years,” he added.
