Bentleys launches new SME service

Bentleys WA has launched a business mentoring division to provide SMEs with bespoke, strategic advice.

The new division will be led by directors Jon Carcich and Fab Fanayan, and will focus on improving profit, enhancing cash flow, and optimising business value.

The division has been created in response to an increase in demand for personalised advisory services for SMEs, Bentleys said.

“In the current climate of uncertainty, we are seeing more SMEs seeking ways to future proof their businesses. As a business owner, you are often so involved with the day-to-day running of the company that it becomes difficult to think strategically,” Mr Carcich said.

“Working with a mentor gives business owners a sounding board to validate their ideas and talk through challenges they may face. Running a small business can be lonely, and having a relationship with a trusted mentor who will provide impartial advice can help lighten the load.”

The process involves quarterly meetings with clients to promote increased engagement and accountability, and to ensure advice is adopted.

To encourage more SME owners to consider business mentoring, Bentleys WA has also launched free business health checks as a taster of the services they can provide.

“We find that while many business owners are keen to get professional advice, they are unsure about who they can trust to deliver. Offering a free Business Health Check allows us to demonstrate the value we can provide to clients with no commitment on their part,” Mr Carcich said.

“Our experience suggests we will retain a significant number of those clients for the long term once they see the impact of our advice.”

Bentleys said the new service line will help to diversify the firm's offering, something that all accountants need to consider in order to remain relevant.

“As compliance work continues to reduce, and technology streamlines accounting work, we as an industry should take the opportunity to increase the breadth of our offering and ultimately our value for clients,” said Mr Carcich.

“We have a unique position within our clients’ businesses and can provide strategic advice across a range of areas to help them achieve their business objectives.”
