Sage enters small business software race

Business

Sage has entered the Australian small business cloud-based accounting software market with its new offering, Sage One.

The global software provider has tailored its cloud-based product to the Australian market and has already undertaken a soft launch.

Speaking to AccountantsDaily, Sage Software Australia chief executive Alan Osrin said he is confident Sage One can take on the existing players in the small business accounting software market.

“We are entering the small business software race,” he declared. “We will be launching Sage One in Australia to compete with the likes of MYOB and Xero; we are taking them on head on.”

Mr Osrin said he believes that the product is superior technically to others in the market and is confident it can deliver small businesses the features they demand.

“Our software handles your general service industry, your general trading industry, it’s got stock control, different pricing tiers, it’s got quotes, full debtors/creditors, general ledger all the way through to trail balance, income statement, balance sheet, and full integration back to Handisoft.

“We think it has better features than our competitors' offerings.”

While the software is specifically targeted at small businesses, Mr Osrin said Sage has the complementary products to ensure a growing business is always catered for.

“With Sage One, we are going after the smaller businesses but within our group, within the Sage Group, we obviously have products that can take them to the next level if we need to," he said.

“That's Sage's business worldwide; they have a full range of accounting systems to go all the way through from small business all the way through to enterprise."
