New alliance a win for accountants

Business

Taxpayers Australia and the SME Association of Australia (SMEA) have announced a strategic alliance set to benefit accountants and tax agents.

SMEA Chairman Craig West said the alliance will prove to be beneficial for both organisations.

“The alliance will provide many opportunities and benefits, including a platform for joint networking activities, information sharing, cross pollination of ideas and development of additional member focused services and programs.”

Taxpayers Australia’s head of tax Mark Chapman highlighted some specific benefits for taxation professionals.

“For our members, many of whom are accountants and tax agents as well as being SMEs in their own right, this alliance will provide substantial additional benefits — including 12 months membership of SMEA and complimentary subscription to MyBusiness, the magazine dedicated to SMEs,” he said.

“The alliance with SMEA will take us back to our roots as the voice of small and medium sized businesses in the Australian taxation system”.

Taxpayers Australia members will be listed on the SMEA database, giving them valuable exposure to more than 18,500 Association members across Australia, said Mr Chapman.

“A further benefit for the members of both organisations will be the opportunity to network and promote their respective businesses to a larger group of fellow business owners,” he added.

Mr Chapman and Mr West Combined to conclude: “Governments of all persuasions have failed to address the concerns of SMEs and their owners. A significant outcome of the SMEA and Taxpayers Australia alliance will be a stronger united voice to advocate on behalf of SMEs and represent their interests in the corridors of government and with the ATO”.
