Carbon acquires fourth Victoria office with bookkeeping takeover

Carbon Group demonstrated its insatiable appetite for acquisition again last week with the takeover of Victorian outfit Rad Bookkeeping & Business Solutions.

The seven-person team, led by founder Debbie Demooy, will stay in their Somerville office but will soon rebrand as Carbon Mornington Peninsula and become the group’s fourth office in the state.
Ms Demooy said it was an “exciting new venture” with the “passion and goals” of the two businesses being closely aligned.
“When I launched Rad Bookkeeping & Business Solutions 23 years ago, I could only hope that it would grow as it has,” she said. “I am incredibly proud of what my team and I have achieved, and the way we have been able to help many business owners.”
“When I met the team at Carbon Group, it was immediately clear that we shared the same values for our businesses so the partnership was a natural progression.”
The Carbon Group said its bookkeeping and CFO services partners Allison Gardiner and Kate Kapovic would lead the partnership and were optimistic about its prospects.
“We have seen a lot of growth in the Victorian bookkeeping and CFO services team over the past 12 months, and this partnership with Rad Bookkeeping & CFO Services is another exciting milestone for Carbon,” Ms Gardiner said.
Ms Kapovic said it was exciting to welcome new Carbonites to the team and launch a new office.
“We are looking forward to getting to know the Rad Bookkeeping & Business Solutions clients and seeing how Carbon can continue to provide them with the quality services they have come to know and love,” she said.
The Mornington Peninsula office joins existing Carbon Group operations in Victoria at Mount Waverley, Monash and Warragul.
Carbon Group’s self-proclaimed “aggressive growth strategy” by acquisition has already added six firms this year, ranging from Brisbane minnow Integrity Wealth to the 50-person team at Sydney bookkeeping start-up Numeric Eight.
In less than a year, Carbon Group has tripled its headcount and moved up the scale rankings in the top 100 accounting firms.
Carbon launched nine years ago after a chance meeting of founders Jamie Davison, who ran a bookkeeping and CFO services consultancy and Mr Hood, who worked in a traditional accounting firm.
