Australian start-ups will help solve supply chain issues and other challenges which emerged during the pandemic, according to KPMG Australia.

Along with start-up hub Stone & Chalk Group it has launched the Future Technology Program cohort, which aims to help start-ups succeed.

Seventy-five per cent of businesses experienced supply chain disruption over the past year according to KPMG, and the program is hoped to address the gaps exposed by the pandemic.

KPMG said those on the program would receive personalised support to help their businesses grow and scale.

“The Future Technology Program helps us to uncover new innovative technology for our clients, who are hungry for solutions but often struggle to engage with start-ups in a positive and meaningful way,” said Sarah Vega, national managing partner, KPMG futures.

“KPMG is thrilled to be bringing together this diverse cohort of exceptional entrepreneurs who are building new technology to drive real change for producers, for companies, and, importantly, for the planet.”

“The five start-ups are bringing trust, verification, transparency and efficiency to supply chains in a way that is critical to the future agenda.”

The selected start-up founders and their teams get access to a tailored support program from KPMG and Stone & Chalk covering investor readiness, industry insights, connections to potential clients, and mentoring on how to sell to large, global companies and more.

The group gets residency for 12 months at one of Stone & Chalk Group’s start-up hubs across the nation.

Stone & Chalk Group CEO Michael Bromley said that his business was excited to support the selected firms.

“I am thrilled to celebrate the Future Technology Program 2022 winners,” he said. “They are a distinguished group of founders that represent the next generation of emerging supply chain tech in Australia.”

“We look forward to working hand-in-hand with KPMG to help these companies realise their ambitions, by providing access to a community that comes together to advocate and encourage one another in a way not possible anywhere else in Australia.”

Future Technology Program 2022 recipients:

  • Adiona — Richard Savoie, CEO: A business that looks to increase efficiency in the movement of people and goods through the implementation of AI and commercial mathematics.
  • Cynch — Susie Jones, CEO: A firm that helps small businesses prevent cybersecurity incidents by helping them build their cyber defence.
  • Givvable — Frances Atkins, co-founder and director: A company that helps businesses meet their ESG targets through supplier data and insights.

  • Versed AI — Fenella Boyce, CEO: A business that uses AI to help solve supply chain problems by providing insights to the sub-tiers of its supply chain networks.

“We are honoured to have been selected for the first cohort of this program, set up shop at a Stone & Chalk start-up hub and work alongside KPMG, who is a leader in supply chain management consulting,” said Ms Boyce.

“We plan on utilising the opportunity to build Versed AI’s cutting-edge tech to better shape the future of supply chain management and procurement in Australia.”
