This year’s MURRA Boost Initiative recipient was unaware of the scheme until it won.

A Port Augusta Indigenous community care service has won this year’s $30,000 PwC MURRA Boost Initiative despite being unaware of the award.

“I learned about the initiative when I was actually notified of the award,” said Healthy Dreaming managing director Jacinta McKenzie (pictured second from left).

“We’re an organisation that doesn’t actually seek awards or recognition, because our recognition comes from our community and providing quality support is how we see our award.”

“We are honoured to receive recognition and we thank PwC MURRA Boost award, this is a reward for all our efforts and commitment, this is for our community.”

The winner receives business support and specialist skills from PwC Australia to the value of $30,000 to help improve the company’s practices and capacity for growth.

Ms McKenzie said the win would help the firm develop its community support program and offer insights into how it could do things differently.

“It’s going to be really good because we will be able to build our cultural ways of working in connection that suits the community in a way that is going to be different and unique.”

“There is another pillar that we’ve had a vision on improving and this will actually bring in the expertise of PwC consultancy to be able to come in with a different lens and actually enhance what we need to do.”

“So we’re quite proud and honoured, because it is for the community and we want to drive better outcomes, we want to impact and influence the way our mob receives services and if we can introduce something that is a quality comprehensive model then we’re stepping in the right direction.”

PwC Australia partner Rosalie Wilkie (pictured left) said that the firm was glad to continue its support for the award and companies such as Healthy Dreaming.

“We are proud to continue our support for Indigenous Business Month through the MURRA Boost Initiative,” she said.

“We have been privileged to work with many great Indigenous businesses over what has now been seven years of this award.”

“This year’s winner, Healthy Dreaming, has established an important presence in Port Augusta delivering healthcare services and support to the community. PwC is looking forward to supporting Healthy Dreaming in the next stage of their growth journey.”

Healthy Dreaming was established in Port Augusta when Ms McKenzie found that the services on offer failed to meet the needs of her community.

“So we decided to look at Healthy Dreaming, establishing its model of care and support that fit our community and not fitting service providers' needs,” she said.

“We looked at the culturally safe embedded practices and we applied that into the western ways of working and Healthy Dreaming evolved from there in regard to providing support to vulnerable communities.”

“We were also able to become an accredited NDIS provider as well, providing support coordination and care planning.”
