AICPA, CIMA to hold inaugural Asia-Pacific conference

The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association) will hold its first Asia-Pacific Engage conference in the wake of setting up its inaugural Australasian committee.

The association, which represents the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), was working with members to raise the profile of the bodies, committee chair Laura Fenn said.
“We look forward to advocating for all our members and collaborating with other regions,” she said.
The two-day virtual conference will discuss the latest issues affecting the profession and help participants develop by way of 12 practical sessions on technical, business, leadership, people management, and digital skills.
Association regional vice-president Venkkat Ramanan said it was important for accountants to develop as the society around them evolved.
“As our world continues to undergo radical, disruptive changes at an accelerating speed, we continue to see an unprecedented pace of change and continued evolution in the role of the finance function propelled by technology,” said Mr Ramanan.
“The need to adapt and grow a future-focused, digital mindset is at an all-time high.”
“Through its specialised agenda with renowned speakers, Engage Asia-Pacific 2022 will enable accounting and finance professionals across the region to gain exclusive insights to help their organisations succeed and stay ahead of the curve in a competitive job market.”
Sessions topics include the growth mindset, purpose-driven leadership, dealing with decision fatigue, and why ESG matters to business.
Two panel discussions with business, accounting, and finance leaders will feature the head of financial control at Coca-Cola Europacific partners Annelize du Toit, and executive vice-president and CFO of digital industries at Siemens, Kairav Modi.
The conference takes place on 1–2 November.
