Xerocon cancelled in light of COVID-19

Business

The accounting software provider has now moved to cancel its flagship event five months in advance.

Slated to be held in Sydney in September, Xerocon has now been cancelled early in consideration of partners, sponsors, speakers and event staff.

“We understand Xerocon is a real highlight on the calendar for much of our Xero community and we did not take this decision to cancel lightly,” said Xero chief customer officer Rachael Powell.

“COVID-19 is deeply affecting small businesses, and our accounting and bookkeeping partners are on the frontline navigating their clients through this crisis. With great uncertainty on the year ahead, we must prioritise our community’s health and safety and ensure we are allowing them to stay focused in their communities during this difficult time.

“We understand this will be disappointing, but we can assure you that Xero remains wholeheartedly committed to our community and will be doing everything we can to support and connect during this period.”

Xero is currently reviewing its plan to carry on with Xerocon London, scheduled for November, with a final decision yet to be made.

The accounting software provider said it was currently considering alternative digital events to share the latest product and technology news.

The cancellation follows in the footsteps of the Accounting Business Expo, which is currently indefinitely postponed after organisers were forced to cancel the March event.
