Ankura expands with two former big four partners at the helm

Global advisory firm Ankura has launched its disputes and economics practice in Australia having appointed two former KPMG partners to lead it as senior managing directors.

Chairman for EMEA and APAC at Ankura Simon Michaels said the expansion into Australia was a crucial step in the firm’s global plan.
“APAC is a key market for Ankura in our ongoing global expansion strategy,” said Mr Michaels.
“Bolstering our globally recognised practice complements the existing high-quality multi-disciplinary team providing expert and advisory services in Australia and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing our clients with local, best-in-class services.”
The firm said the Australian disputes and economics practice would leverage its global experience and team of professionals to provide clients with rigorous analysis and compelling answers to their disputes or regulatory challenges.
Ankura announced that the Australian practice would be led by recent appointments Christine Oliver, who would be based in the Ankura Sydney office and Greg Meredith, who would be based in its Melbourne office.
Both arrived from KPMG where Ms Oliver was a partner and the firm’s dispute advisory leader and Mr Meredith was a partner and forensic accountant.
Ms Oliver – whose experience included counselling legal teams and insurers in defending against high-risk litigation – said she was excited to join the strong global team at Ankura.
“I am delighted to be joining Ankura’s global disputes and economics team which has delivered leading analysis and expert evidence in some of the world’s most complex cases,” she said.
“I look forward to joining a team of highly experienced colleagues and leading an equally advanced local team in the year to come.”
Mr Meredith echoed her thoughts and emphasised what a great occasion it was to be building out the firm’s Melbourne practice.
“It’s a unique opportunity to be able to expand Ankura’s disputes and economics practice here in Melbourne – and I’m excited for the future of this practice.”
Senior managing director and global head of disputes and economics at Ankura, Mary Beth Edwards, said she was pleased to see the practice expand alongside the addition of two experienced professionals to lead it.
