Grant Thornton appoints experienced transfer pricing partner

Appointments

Spells at ANZ and NAB makes Christine Cornish “a great addition”, the firm says.

Grant Thornton has appointed a transfer pricing specialist with big four bank experience, Christine Cornish, as partner in its Sydney office.

National managing partner of tax Sandie Boswell said recruiting Ms Cornish is a positive step for the firm.

“Christine is a great addition to our team,” said Ms Boswell.

“Due to the nature of transfer pricing and its often complex tax implications, Christine’s specific experience and expertise – and in particular her knowledge of the finance industry – means she will bolster our offering to clients and help them expand and grow their businesses.”

With stints at NAB and ANZ, Ms Cornish brings to the firm specialised experience in financial services along with a deep understanding of the property, manufacturing, retail and professional services industries.

Ms Cornish said she was looking forward to the different challenges presented by Grant Thornton’s clients.

“It’s great to join Grant Thornton’s specialist transfer pricing team and I am excited to understand our client’s unique challenges and transfer pricing needs in this complex international environment,” she said.

“The need for assistance in this space is becoming increasingly important, particularly with the growing digital economy providing businesses with new opportunities to expand into other countries.”

Grant Thornton said Ms Cornish will help clients with cross-border business dealings as the ATO increases its scrutiny of international transfer pricing.

Ms Cornish arrives from Pitcher Partners, where she was transfer pricing director. She also spent 11 years as a senior manager at EY.

Grant Thornton said Ms Cornish is regularly a presenter at conferences and was previously co-chair of the tax transfer pricing sub-committee of Capital Markets Tax Committee, an Asian financial services industry body.
