BDO strengthens partnership with three east coast appointments

BDO has strengthened its presence along the east coast with experienced partnership appointments in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Former Deloitte director Ed Nicholls would join its Melbourne office, the firm said, Crispin and Jeffrey partner Bill Matley would start in Sydney and infrastructure specialist Tim Dighton would be based in Brisbane.
Joining from his role as director in technology and controls assurance at Deloitte Australia, Mr Nicholls was appointed a risk advisory partner and would focus on improving technology risk environments for large organisations, BDO said.
Mr Nicholls said he was excited to start work with a team that was striving to meet and exceed client expectations.
“I particularly like that BDO is passionate about fostering a post-COVID culture where team members have more control over their work life balance,” said Mr Nicholls.
“To me, this is the most effective way of maintaining a happy and healthy work environment, and it also establishes long-term continuity for supporting the needs of our clients.”
Mr Matley brought with him over 20 years of experience for the role of business services partner, including since 2005 at boutique accounting firm Crispin and Jeffrey.
Based out of BDO’s Sydney office, Mr Matley would have a strategic focus on small and medium enterprises, including family businesses and local subsidiaries of multinational organisations.
Mr Matley said he was attracted to the firm’s experienced team and approach to clients.

Joining the BDO Brisbane office as a partner in the firm’s expanding project and infrastructure advisory team, Tim Dighton comes from Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Mr Dighton had trained as a solicitor and developed an understanding of regulatory requirements for highly complex infrastructure, transport and transformation projects. He had worked as an adviser across commercial property, banking and finance and commercial litigation.
Mr Dighton said he was excited by the firm's growing project and infrastructure advisory team and the possibilities that came with it.
“I’m looking forward to joining a strong national team, that’s made up of highly respected industry experts, with work across some of the most significant and diverse transport and infrastructure jobs in Australia,” said Mr Dighton.
“It’s an exciting time to join the project and infrastructure division at BDO.”
