William Buck has attracted a former Deloitte and KPMG director to help boost the its CFO advisory service offering.

Zaid Khatri has been appointed a director of business advisory in the firm’s Melbourne office for his expertise in advising C-suite clients.

William Buck Melbourne managing director Lindsay Holloway said Mr Khatri would be a valuable addition to the firm.

“Zaid’s highly accomplished career, his demonstrated ability to collaborate internally, and relationship-driven approach makes him an obvious fit for William Buck,” said Mr Holloway.

“His experience advising on complex business transactions, the implementation of new accounting standards, and mergers and acquisitions will support our CFO and C-suite clients, including those in corporate, not-for-profit and government organisations — all of which Zaid has deep experience [sic].”

The firm said Mr Khatri had over 12 years of experience specialising in technical accounting services, year-end and audit support, and preparation of financial statements as well as advising C-suite clients across Australia, India, Dubai, Oman and Africa.

He joined the firm after working as a director in finance assurance at Deloitte for almost three years and spending the previous 10 years at KPMG firms in Australia, Oman and India.

Mr Khatri said he was pleased to be “joining a firm that is dedicated to responding to the needs of its clients effectively and excited to scale a team that will help a number of these clients address the myriad of challenges they face.”

The appointment comes after the firm made a record number of appointments in 2021–22, with 28 directors promoted taking the total at the time to 118.

William Buck director Jeffrey Luckins was appointed as the Victorian State Council Chair of the Governance Institute of Australia in December last year.

The firm has been providing accounting and advisory services for over 125 years and now has over 110 directors and 950 professional staff across Australia and New Zealand.

William Buck is a member of the Praxity Alliance, which supports the firm through an extensive global network with access to more than 51,000 professionals in over 110 countries.
