The move comes as the firm is “experiencing unprecedented growth” and demand from clients of its technology services, it said.

EY Australia and EY New Zealand have bolstered their transformation and technology capabilities through the acquisition of technology services business Red Moki and its 74 employees.

The firms said the purchase would enable them to make full use of its partnership with ServiceNow, a cloud-based company that provides SaaS for technical support and to help transform businesses.

“We are experiencing unprecedented growth in ServiceNow demands from our clients,” said technology consulting partner at EY New Zealand Rich Macfarlane.

“The team from Red Moki have delivered major ServiceNow-enabled business transformations across government, financial services, telecommunications, consumer and many other industries in the region.”

“Their expertise complements EY Oceania’s breadth and depth of technology and transformation consulting experience with leading organisations.”

Mr Macfarlane also said the acquisition would see both EY Australia and New Zealand be able to cater to the growing demand of its technology services.

“The Red Moki team will expand our footprint and expertise in the region and deliver valuable client outcomes,” he said.

“We have known the Red Moki team for years and are great admirers of their work, so the decision to ask them to join EY was an obvious one. Their vision and growth plans align perfectly with ours and they will play an important role as we grow this business together.”

“The Red Moki team brings exceptional talent and genuinely innovative technology solutions in a highly-competitive market.”

Red Moki CEO Greg Woolley said he was looking forward to the greater depth of work possible with the added resources of EY.

“I’m excited by the opportunities that joining EY will create for both the Red Moki team and our clients,” he said.

“By joining forces with EY and accessing their global resources and skills, we will be able to take the service we provide to our clients to the next level and deliver true digital transformation across both the business and technology domains.”

“Our team is excited about the scale and range of opportunities that they will have access to by being part of EY, not to mention the variety of career and development options that come with being a leading global organisation.”

Managing partner for EY New Zealand Simon O’Connor said he was glad the firm acquired the technology business.

“I am very pleased to welcome Greg and the Red Moki team,” said Mr O’Connor.

“EY aims to be the leading transformation partner for clients in New Zealand and overseas, and the added capability brought by the Red Moki team will help us deliver technology-enabled transformations to our clients.”

Red Moki was founded in New Zealand and has offices in Australia and India and has grown to have over 70 employees. The firm strives to partner with clients and help them use technology to best develop and grow their businesses.
