WA Insolvency Solutions, a division of Jirsch Sutherland, has appointed one of Western Australia’s most experienced insolvency practitioners, Cliff Rocke, as partner.

WAIS managing partner Jimmy Trpcevski said Mr Rocke was an excellent fit for the firm.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cliff to WAIS,” he said. “His wide-ranging experience and expertise across all corporate insolvency solutions, along with his collaborative approach, will undoubtedly strengthen our team and our client offering.

“There are many synergies. For example, Cliff’s existing relationships are complementary to our own — and we look forward to further enhancing those relationships.

“He also shares our drive to achieve the best outcomes and is committed to giving back and fostering strong relations in our local communities.”

Mr Rocke said his decision to join WAIS was “largely driven by a desire to be part of a leading and respected insolvency firm with a significant presence”.

“One of my focuses will be on further cementing WAIS as a pre-eminent insolvency and restructuring offering in the WA market,” he said.

A registered liquidator, Mr Rocke brings more than 30 years’ experience in corporate insolvency across multiple sectors including hospitality, building and construction, manufacturing, engineering, property, retail, mining and financial services.

He has worked closely with accountants, lawyers, real estate agents, financial advisers and directors throughout his career.

“I enjoy meeting people and [allaying] their concerns and working with stakeholders to ensure the best outcome and maximise the return,” he said.

“I approach each matter as though I have a personal exposure, such that I want to say at the end of the engagement: ‘I gave it my best at maximising the return to all stakeholders.’”

The addition of Mr Rocke means WAIS now has five registered liquidators and four bankruptcy trustees.

Mr Rocke has previously been a partner at Cor Cordis, KordaMentha and PPB Advisory and head of strategic business services Western Australia at NAB. His experience took in advisory, restructuring, turnaround and wind-ups for SMEs, as well as distressed asset management.

He was also national director and a local committee member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association for 10 years, which saw him play a role in insolvency law reform.

He is closely involved with Western Australia-based charity Youth Focus, which supports young people and their mental health.
