Mr Tomasi’s appointment was one of five announced by the global accounting and advisory network on Tuesday, as it moves to strengthen its foothold in the sectors key to its service offering.

The newly created global leader roles will be led by Mr Tomasi who — alongside the network’s 600-strong industry group members — will be responsible for driving the network’s position in each of the sectors and encouraging collaboration across the network.

Mr Tomasi is currently chair of Moore Australia and managing partner of the firm’s Perth office. He is also a board member of the network’s global operations and the global leader for energy, mining and renewables.

He has been in public practice since 1986 and joined Moore Australia as partner in 2015, before being appointed managing partner in 2018.

Over the course of his career, Mr Tomasi has worked across various industries spanning the energy, mining and renewables sector, as well as aged care, agriculture, building and construction, Indigenous affairs, not-for-profit and local government.

Other appointments included in the announcement are that of Dan Natale to global leader of real estate and construction. Mr Natale is currently managing partner at one of the Moore network’s partner firms, Segal.

Graham Tyler, currently chairman of partner firm Moore Kingston Smith, has been appointed as global leader of the network’s media operations, while Mark Fagan, partner at Citrin Cooperman & Company, has been appointed global leader of manufacturing and distribution.

Costas Constantinou, managing partner at Moore Greece, rounds out the flurry of appointments, with his new role as global leader of the network’s maritime operations.

Moore Global CEO Anton Colella said the appointments will give the network a better chance of becoming the most respected professional services network in its tier, globally.

“At the heart of our strategy, we aim to be the world’s most respected professional services network, and to drive that business strategy forward and lead our global community, we need an exceptional leadership team,” Mr Colella said.

“David has already proven his dedication to supporting our business growth, and I’m confident that within his new role, he will continue to shape our business, helping our clients and the wider Moore Global team tackle the key challenges of modern business, and ultimately help them thrive.”

Mr Tomasi embraced the appointment, welcoming the challenges that are likely to accompany steering the network through the energy, mining and renewables sector, as global sentiment shifts towards a preference for greener energy solutions.

“I look forward to leading this sector group and working with my talented colleagues from around the globe,” Mr Tomasi said, “especially at a time when the challenge for energy, mining and renewables has never been greater.”
