RSM Australia has appointed Sam Mohammad as its new national head of indirect tax practice, based in the firm’s Brisbane office.

Mr Mohammad was a former director at KPMG Australia where he specialised in indirect tax.

He also spent a year as manager, VAT and indirect taxes, in the EY London office.

Early in his career, Mr Mohammad was a policy officer in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet in Queensland.

RSM Brisbane managing partner Andy Graham said Mr Mohammad’s appointment demonstrated the growth of the Brisbane office, with his appointment marking the fourth partner appointment in 12 months.

“The Brisbane office has exceptional depth and expertise available to help Queensland clients position themselves for growth,” Mr Graham said.

“Sam’s extensive experience at KPMG as well as his prior role as a policy officer at the Queensland state government means he’s ideally placed to provide strong business advice for local businesses.”

Mr Mohammad, a member of the Tax Institute’s Queensland state taxes sub-committee and a previous member of the ATO’s fuel tax liaison group, said he was looking forward to the challenge in his new role.

“Queensland is an exciting place to be right now, with a strong business outlook and lots of opportunities on the horizon,” Mr Mohammad said.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my skills to bear to help RSM’s clients maximise these opportunities.”
