The firm announced that former BDO partner Albert Loots will join RSM Bird Cameron to help start up the new audit division.

Mr Loots was previously an audit partner for BDO and PKF and prior to that he was a senior manager with KPMG.

Kim Hutchinson, national chairman, said RSM Bird Cameron has welcomed Mr Loots to the firm, praising his auditing skills in the process.

“Albert’s strong technical skills and experience will add significant value to the audit division in Brisbane. Albert is able to identify risks and add value to the audit process by making potential performance improvement observations.

“The new audit division in Brisbane is part of the firm’s overall strategy of building its national audit and assurance practice," he added. "The firm also has inbound international and interstate audit work, which will be serviced more efficiently through the Brisbane audit offering.

“RSM Bird Cameron continues to focus on developing its footprint across Australia, providing consistent, exceptional, nationwide service for Australian businesses,” he said.

Andrew Graham, national head of business solutions, RSM Bird Cameron, who has been heading up the Brisbane operation since its merger with MHM Accountants in July 2013, said the new audit division is part of a staged approach to building the firm’s Brisbane and Queensland presence.

“The time is right to expand the offering for businesses to audit and assurance. RSM Bird Cameron is also looking at future expansion in key regional centres in the south and west of the state,” Mr Graham said.
