Walker Wayland Australasia has elected a high-profile Queensland accountant to chair the network, whose main focus will be to promote the adoption of uniform technology platforms across the network.

Paul Hilton, who is the CEO of Toowoomba-based firm Power Tynan, has been elected as the new chairman of Walker Wayland Australasia.
Mr Hilton and Power Tynan joined the Walker Wayland network in 2012, and Mr Hilton joined the board of Walker Wayland in 2014.
As chairman, Mr Hilton said his primary focus will be to encourage the adoption of uniform technology platforms across the network.
“Uniform platforms will have a powerful impact on profitability of firms, engagement between our people and will play an important role in our plans for expansion,” Mr Hilton said.
“Firms across the network currently use a range of systems in the two vital areas of tax and practice management. A uniform platform will encourage information sharing and improve benchmarking and therefore profitability.”
Members of the Walker Wayland network already utilise standards for audit systems and for self-managed super funds, which have resulted in better information flow between members and staff working in those two areas, according to Mr Hilton.
“Uniform systems also boost the benefits of secondments through the network. When a staff member from one firm arrives at another for a project, the training time is greatly reduced. They can fit in almost immediately,” he said.
Mr Hilton hopes that by embracing information sharing, accurate benchmarking and uniform systems, the network will attract more members.
