Appointments

Commercial Associates (CAAA) has announced the appointment of a prominent Sydney auditor to head up the firm's audit division in a play to take on the  'top end of town'.

Ruzbeh Desai and his start-up firm CSA Partners and Assurance have merged into the existing CAAA audit division. In the specialist SMSF audit sector, services will be offered under the CSA branding, with CAAA focusing on private and public company audits.

Mr Desai will lead both divisions.

Fleming Stojanovski, CEO of CAAA, spoke of the need to establish Commercial Associates as a “credible alternative” in the audit sector.

“For too long now the private companies of Australia have been overcharged and underserviced by the top end of town,” Mr Stojanovski stated.

Mr Stojanovski was also critical of the current strategy of some of his competitors.

“The value proposition is just wrong," he said. "It just doesn’t work, and as great an organisation as many of those businesses are, they’re just not geared up to cater to this kind of client."

The decision to appoint Mr Desai follows the earlier acquisition of cloud accounting firm MTK Accounting Services.

Mr Stojanovski also flagged other areas for future expansion, such as forensic accounting and insolvency.
