PwC Australia refreshes assurance leadership team

PwC Australia has promoted three partners to take leadership roles in its assurance practice to better support the audit and trust and risk businesses within the firm.

The changes see three partners, Kristin Stubbins, Liz O'Brien and Robert Di Pietro, take up new roles within the business, while Corinne Best continues to lead trust and risk.
The firm said it was proud that the changes meant the leadership team comprised three women.
Ms Stubbins has been a partner at PwC for 18 years and a member of the firm’s executive board since 2020.
She was formerly the audit business leader but has been moved into the assurance leader position.
Ms Stubbins said that her priorities in the new role would be for PwC’s assurance practice to best support clients and other stakeholders through increasing market volatility and uncertainty.
“The past couple of years of uncertainty have brought a laser-like focus on the importance of building, earning and sharing trust,” said Ms Stubbins.
“As geopolitical and economic forces across the world continue to shift, so will the expectations that shareholders, consumers and community have of our largest companies.
“I’m extremely proud and fortunate to step into the role of PwC’s Assurance managing partner at a time when the need for that assurance has never been greater.
“I’m really looking forward to PwC’s Assurance business being able to help our clients see and solve for the bigger picture.”
Ms O'Brien has been a partner at the firm since 2012 and was appointed audit business leader, the role previously held by Ms Stubbins.
She said she was looking forward to moving into the role during a period when clients, the community and investors are looking to have greater trust and confidence not just over financial reporting but also in areas such as sustainability and cyber.
“I’m passionate about continuing to build trust that leads to growth in business and innovation at a time when our clients are facing risk and anxiety, as well as opportunity, within the complexities of today’s business landscape,” said Ms O'Brien.
“I am fortunate to lead a team of 1,600 audit professionals and am committed to helping empower future leaders and enabling all our people to grow, develop and be successful.”
Mr Di Pietro has been a partner at the firm since 2017 and began his career at the firm in 2006, in 2021 he was PwC Australia’s cyber-security lead for the 2021 census digital service working closely with the ABS.
Mr Di Pietro’s new role is cyber-security and digital trust leader working within Ms Best’s trust and risk business’ team.
He said he was honoured to be given the role and looked forward to continuing the work with his team.
“Every day our 400 plus strong team around the country are working with government and industry to build trust and strengthen the cyber resilience of our most critical services and infrastructure – something that embodies not only PwC’s purpose, but also my own purpose and passion,” said Mr Di Pietro.
Ms Best said she looked forward to working with Mr Di Pietro.
“I would like to welcome Rob into his leadership role in our Cybersecurity and Digital Trust business to lead the team in helping our clients navigate complex Cybersecurity issues,” Ms Best said.
