Matthews Steer Accountants & Advisors has confirmed the appointment of chartered accountant Graeme Billings to its board.

Mr Billings worked at PwC for 34 years as head of PwC’s Global Industrial Products Group and partner in charge of the Melbourne assurance division.

“To attract someone of Graeme's experience and capability is a real coup for our firm,” said Ken Matthews, CEO, director and founding partner of Matthews Steer.

“He brings a wealth of knowledge having been a senior partner of a big four accounting firm. As a public company director, his extensive industry connections and experience will be of great benefit to us. He has mentored some of our partners for a couple of years now, so he’s already made an impact.

Mr Matthews also confirmed the appointment of Steve Wooster, who has worked at the firm since 2006, to the firm’s board.

“We’ve witnessed first-hand his progression through the ranks from graduate to partner to director,” Mr Matthews said.

“His leadership skills in building our business services and virtual CFO departments in particular have been exceptional.”

Mr Matthews says appointments such as Mr Billings’ and Mr Wooster’s are going to be vital to the firm as it evolves over the short-to-medium term.

“The size and complexity of our clients is growing all the time, so we need people like Graeme and Steve on our board to help guide the way and shape the growth and development of our business,” he said.
